The Universal Dream

"Keep an open mind." We've all heard it as it usually pertains to a singular situation. The issue however is that once the mind opens to a new possibility, it soon withdraws, closes, and goes back to its safe place nestled in amongst the pillows of coventional wisdom, We're then told to quit daydreaming and come back to reality.  That's an odd way to look at things isn't it? Aren't we supposed to follow our dreams? Didn't the doers and thinkers of generations past, dream of great accomplishments first before putting them intto practice?  These great inventors,of medical cures, literary excellence, music, art, health, industry, machines, etc. didn't invent themselves...they needed a soul to give them life. Isn't 'come back to reality', code for 'come back to the mundane'? To the normal? To the average, Come back to that place where our espectations for you were and still are limited, because after all, you're not going to do ...

Building Bridges

Isolation is a quiet beast that sneaks up on us and before we know it, we find ourselves alone with no one in sight. There are a multitude of ways that we find ourselves isolated. The first 45 days I was in and out of comas and getting shocks to my heart...sometimes multiple times a day.  During this time Mary, my wife designated my sign as a dragonfly. Dragonflies represent New Beginnings, Transformation, Hope, Peace, and Love amongst many other things. Today, I was walking in the medical plaza for a doctors appointment when I came upon a sign that read CODE BLUE Room-Kidney. About 20 feet in the hallway ahead of me was a dragonfly on the floor.  The message and symbolism was not lost on me; time to get moving and live my life.  I survived my ordeal and have proven at the age of 71 that it's never too late to t...
