Organized Religion & New Age Spirituality
Why is there a gap between Organized Religion and New Age' Spirituality? Why can't they peacefully co-exist? Here's some of the comments I've heard about organized religion and new age spirituality.
ORGANIZED RELIGION- Too controlling, too much guilt & shame, outdated belief system, not a welcoming environment, too much structure, etc..
NEW AGE SPIRITUALLY- no structure, all metaphysical practices, no borders or boundaries, no consequences, no tradition to build upon, no responsibility when it comes to honoring history & tradition, etc.
I have heard these comments (extreme as they are) as a Catholic and a clairvoyant medium. However, there is a glimmer of hope if two mindsets can be addressed.
MINDSET NO.1 -RELIGION- Addressing the fact that many (not all) people have left in search of freedom to explore new ways of connecting to the spiritual realm and to freely express that connection.
MINDSET NO.2- NEW AGE- Respecting time honored traditions that built a sustainable foundation and respecting the work and commitment of the founders who have sacrificed much.
The mistakes that both make are identical yet for different reasons. Religion is trying to protect its foundational structure and New Age is trying to protect what it is building. However, we are meant to PRESERVE legacies of old and new, not protect. To PROTECT, means keeping something safe and from harm, while PRESERVE is meant to maintain something in it's original condition and keep it from decaying.
In the end, RELIGION is answering its' calling of perserving the foundation while NEW AGE is answering its' calling to freely build upon that foundation but in a different way.
If both would quit worrying about what the other side is doing in their house, and focus on their own house, then both houses would be in order...isn't that what we all want?
